How Does SMS Signup Work?
SMS Signup allows customers to join your Birthday Club quickly by sending a text message — perfect for walk-ins, restaurants, cafés, salons, and other busy brick-and-mortar locations. It’s fast, convenient, and works on every mobile device.
Once set up, SMS Signup automatically captures both phone number and email, increasing engagement and reward redemption rates.
By placing custom QR codes and Smart SMS Links on posters, flyers, menus, receipts, table tents, websites, social media, and more, you can sign up customers from both in-person and online channels.
The signup flow is a fully compliant, 8-step process. While the description sounds long, customers typically complete it in less than 1 minute.

1. Customer Scans Your QR Code or Texts Your Keyword
To join your Birthday Club, customers can:
- Scan your SMS Signup QR code, or
- Manually text your keyword (e.g., JOIN) to your dedicated phone number
- Tap on the Smart SMS Link in your social media postings or your website
This opens their SMS app with your keyword pre-filled. They tap Send to begin.
2. Customer Receives an SMS With a Signup Link
After sending the initial SMS, the customer immediately receives a message from your business containing a personalized link to complete their signup.
This link opens a secure signup form.

3. Customer Completes the Signup Form
The signup form has three quick steps:
Step 1 — Enter email + birthday
Customers provide their email address and birth month/day so you can send rewards.
Step 2 — Confirm email & accept terms
On the next screen, they confirm their email and agree to your Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
This step also sends them a welcome email.

Step 3 — Add profile details
Customers optionally add their:
- Name
- Age group
- Gender
This helps personalize future reward emails and get to know the customer.

4. Customer Verifies Their Email
A verification email is sent automatically.
When the customer clicks the Verify Email button, their account becomes fully active.
Birthday Club does not send rewards to unverified emails.
5. Customer Receives Their Signup Reward
Once the email is verified, the customer immediately receives their signup reward (if your business offers one).
From this point on, they will receive:
- Birthday rewards
- Anniversary rewards
- Monthly rewards (if enabled)
- Visit-based rewards (Loyalty+)
- Expiration reminders (via SMS if Smart SMS is enabled)
